CORLHNS Anosmia Recommendation

Last Updated on

It has been brought to notice for the medical community by ENT UK and British society of Rhinology that isolated anosmia (loss of smell without other symptoms) can be a noteworthy symptom of present COVID19 infection. These patients with isolated anosmia can increase the community spread and pose a danger to medical staff. (Press release from ENT UK is attached)

Hence we need to include isolated anosmia as symptom to suspect COVID19 and to inform medical staff to take necessary precautions when handling such cases.

We also perhaps need to widen the present COVID19 test criteria to include anosmia and even mild sore throat to limit the possible spread.
